Atlanta lit the spark — Alaska brings it back to life
Time is near, and I will be off on a long-awaited adventure: heading to Alaska with stops in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco. I’ll spend a week in Fairbanks with my uncle, aunt, and cousin, chasing the Northern Lights and soaking in hot springs. The excitement is really building up!
We’re on a mission to see those once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list Northern Lights, try reindeer sled rides, and enjoy the beauty of Alaska. After that, we will split up: they head home, and I’ll head down the West Coast from Seattle to San Francisco, with a stop in Portland and the Redwoods along the way. And yes, I’ll be sharing plenty of photos, so stay tuned.

This trip is a fresh chapter after some real losses. My mom, who was my rock; my dad, who was the storm that shaped me; and Steven, who was so close to my heart. The last few years, with COVID and heart surgery, have been tough. But picking up my camera again in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago truly reignited that spark. That trip reminded me of the joy of photography and reignited my passion. Now this Alaska journey is a chance to keep that spark alive and step into a new beginning.
To mark each city along the way, I’m planning to get a tattoo in each spot—Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, and maybe San Francisco. Each one will be a pine tree armband or wristband on my forearm, a little piece of each place I visit, so I can carry this journey with me wherever I go.
